Bristol, United Kingdom | September 20, 2024—Aganova, in collaboration with SUEZ, successfully deployed its Nautilus system to inspect a 100-year-old cast iron pipeline for Bristol Water in Somerset, Southwest England. This one-day pilot project identified three pipeline incidents, including a major leak with a flow rate of 32.59 m³/hour. The project marks a key achievement in Bristol Water’s ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency and sustainability.
Bristol Water serves around 1.2 million people and is responsible for managing a large and aging infrastructure. To address a suspected leak in a difficult-to-access rural pipeline, the company turned to the advanced in-line detection technology provided by Aganova and operated by SUEZ. The inspection was conducted without disrupting the water supply, demonstrating the Nautilus system’s ability to perform complex assessments efficiently.

During the inspection, eight synchronizers were installed along the 7 km pipeline to ensure accurate leak detection. The Nautilus system identified three incidents, including the significant leak, and the data was analyzed by Aganova’s team in Málaga, Spain. Exact coordinates of the leak were provided to Bristol Water through the Nemo digital platform, allowing for precise repair planning.
