Village of Wilmette, IL – March 4, 2026. Spanish technology firm Aganova will deploy its state-of-the-art Nautilus® system in the Village of Wilmette (Illinois, USA) to carry out a comprehensive acoustic inspection of the municipality’s water transmission infrastructure. The project, scheduled to begin in April, will consist of the inline inspection of approximately 9,500 feet (2.9 km) of 24-inch cast iron potable water pipeline, with the objective of identifying leaks, air pockets, and other anomalies under live conditions.
Delivered in collaboration with M.E. Simpson Co., Inc., a U.S.-based Professional Services Company with extensive experience in water loss control, water infrastructure assessment and wastewater services, this project combines advanced acoustic technology with local services expertise to support proactive asset management. The planning and design phase was led by Burns & McDonnell, laying the foundation for the successful implementation of this advanced technological solution.
Aganova’s patented Nautilus® system offers a highly accurate and non-invasive solution for leak detection in large-diameter pressurized pipelines. The system’s neutrally buoyant sphere travels with the water flow, capturing high-resolution acoustic data without interrupting service. The inspection will be executed with strict compliance to U.S. standards, including IEPA and AWWA disinfection protocols, OSHA safety regulations, and the Village’s operational and traffic requirements.
