- 1 km of the drinking water network in Manzanares (Ciudad Real, Spain) was inspected using Nautilus technology, identifying 16 leaks—some of them critical.
- Estimated water savings are expected to reach 3,000 m³/day after full repairs, helping to secure the municipality’s water supply.
Ciudad Real, Spain – October 1, 2025. Aganova, in collaboration with ACCIONA, has successfully carried out an inspection of the drinking water network in the municipality of Manzanares, Ciudad Real, using the innovative Nautilus technology. The operation covered a 4.1-kilometer stretch of 600 mm asbestos cement pipeline and led to the detection of 16 leaks, some classified as critical.
The inspected system, which carries a flow of 400 m³/h, was experiencing losses that directly impacted supply capacity.
The ongoing repairs are expected to recover up to 3,000 m³ of water per day, improving system efficiency and ensuring a reliable supply for the municipality. This loss volume was calculated by Nemo through AI and verified by the client using flow meters—clear evidence of how technology can generate a positive and measurable impact on water management.
“This project clearly demonstrates how Nautilus technology enables our partners to act with speed and precision. Efficient leak detection directly contributes to water sustainability and the quality of service delivered to citizens.” — Luisa Gallardo, Global Operation Manager at Aganova.
“Thanks to this inspection, we were able to intervene swiftly and resolve a situation that threatened the municipality’s water supply. This technological collaboration was key to improving efficiency and ensuring continuous service.” — José Fernando Pérez Serrano, Head of Service for Manzanares (ACCIONA).
Nautilus is a non-invasive inspection technology developed by Aganova for pressurized water networks. It operates via a smart sensor introduced into the pipeline, which moves with the water flow and captures high-precision acoustic signals to detect internal leaks and other anomalies—without the need to interrupt service. Combined with advanced analytics, this technology allows for highly accurate pinpointing of loss points and provides operators with an effective tool to optimize hydraulic infrastructure maintenance.
Beyond water savings, these types of initiatives offer direct benefits to cities. They reduce operational costs associated with network losses, improve asset planning and management, and enhance the resilience of supply systems. They also support more sustainable use of water resources and offer a faster, more precise, and less invasive intervention model—aligned with today’s urban water management challenges.
This project reinforces the commitment of both Aganova and ACCIONA to sustainability and improved efficiency in water management by applying high-precision, non-invasive technologies like Nautilus, capable of detecting internal leaks without service disruption.
