Málaga, Spain – September 18, 2026. Aganova yesterday received the 2026 City of Málaga Award for Innovation and Technology, presented by Málaga City Council in recognition of the company’s track record and contribution to the development of advanced technological solutions for the sustainable management of critical infrastructure, particularly across the entire water cycle.
The awards ceremony took place at the Teatro Cervantes in Málaga and brought together the recipients in all eight categories of this year’s edition. Aganova founder Agustín Ramírez took to the stage to accept the award.
The award highlights the journey of a pipeline inspection company founded and developed within Málaga’s innovation ecosystem. Since its beginnings, Aganova has focused on applying technology to one of the major challenges of our time: improving network management and preventing the loss of an essential resource.
“Receiving this award in our home city has a very special meaning. Aganova was founded in Málaga with the conviction that innovation could transform the way water infrastructure is understood and managed. Seeing that vision become a technology now present in numerous countries is a tribute to the effort, perseverance and talent of everyone who has been part of this project,” said Agustín Ramírez, founder of Aganova.
Through its proprietary in-line inspection and intelligent data analysis solutions, Aganova provides advanced water leak detection services to utilities and operators worldwide. Its technology helps locate leaks, identify pipeline anomalies and provide a clearer understanding of pipeline condition, delivering the information needed to plan repairs, prioritize interventions and optimize infrastructure maintenance investment.
From its base in Málaga, the company has built an international presence, deploying its solutions in numerous countries and contributing to the creation of highly skilled jobs. Málaga City Council specifically highlighted Aganova’s ability to raise the city’s international profile and demonstrate how technological innovation can deliver practical responses to the urban challenges of the 21st century.
Marcos Barrera, CEO of Aganova, also attended the ceremony and said: “This award recognizes our journey, while also encouraging us to keep moving forward. Our goal is to continue developing technology that turns pipeline data into concrete decisions, helping operators reduce water losses, prioritize action and protect their infrastructure. Accepting the award alongside Agustín symbolizes the connection between the vision on which Aganova was founded and the new phase of growth we are building.”
